1998 Ibanez AS-200 (SOLD)

SOLD
Influenced and loved by John Scofield

Put up here is the legendary hollow body Ibanez AS-200. Since its debut in 1980, AS-200 has been John Scofield’s main guitar for more than 20 years. Sturdy build with the highest standards and the best of materials, coupled with the well balanced high/low tones attracted him so much that years later Ibanez came up with the advanced version, JSM-100 (RRP £1800+++) and JSM-200 based on the same prototype of AS-200.

This original, early AS-200 plays and sounds warm/rich and full/lush. Tonality can be played across multiple level by the unique feature of Tri-sound switch (serial / parallel / reverse coil), in combination to the 3 way bridge/neck pickup selector. If you want to play as close as Scofield sound, you may consider his favourite way of stringing, D’Addario strings custom set: .013, .016, .022, .032, .042, .052.

Serial# F9809455 indicates it was made in Japan(stamped on the headstock as well) and manufactured in the Fujigen factory (where all the legendary, old, vintage real Japanese Ibanez guitars were built and made the company famous)…nowadays most the Ibanez guitars are made in China, Indonesia etc…

Ebony (!!!) fretboard, amazing AAAA+ flame maple back and top, fantastic inlays…a Gibson with the same spec would cost £3K… (and this will increase its value much more)

Staying in great condition for 16 years, this guitar has zero buckle rush or dents. This guitar has museum quality. The original hardshell case is shipped together.

It’s extra hard to find this model, especially these original, unmolested early ones, with its original hard case! I think this is the cleanest example on the second hand market! Highly collectible guitar, great value and really sought after guitar for £1200! SOLD
